Oddly enough, I know several decent pho restaurant; however, they are just decent but not superb.
Pho express is one of the decent pho restaurant. For it's value, every single dishes are worthwhile trying; however, that's about it... I don't have unforgettable dish or must get dish in this restaurant despite the fact I am always quite satisfied with whatever I choose to eat.
If you are craving for hot soup and some fresh spring roll, I think you should give it a try. You will not be disappointed -

It's a good authentic-ish Vietnamese Resturant that serve a few items that other Vietnam Restaurants don't.
That said their staff can be a bit rude at times and full of attitude, especially when they are busy.
And be forewarned that sodium level in their soup based dishes are also a little too much at times. It doesn't really bother me, but friends I have taken here, have told me this a few times. -

Am I living under a rock? This placed was easily missed by me as it is in a smaller plaza. Parking can get congested at times. Much larger than it looks and very clean. Take out for me tonight and I appreciated the water while I waited.
Vermicelli with grilled chicken and pork for me tonight. Fast! Delicious.
Cash or debit only. 3.5 stars -

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. We had a party of 6 and got a table right away.
The first thing I noticed about the menu was there was no medium size order. Just small large or xl.
I ordered the bun rieu and the 3 beans drink/dessert.
The rieu was $10 for a large. When the bowl came .. it looked more like a medium. I've definitely had better bun rieu before. The broth was okay, very mild in flavours. The mixed crab meat was okay. They had slices of pork or chicken? in the bowl which was odd imo.
The 3 beans drink/dessert came in a tall and skim glass... very hard to mix and eat from the glass.. bad choice of cup. Also I order a large and it looked like an extra cup cause even after I poured it in the to go cup it was not full. Unless how much smaller the small can be....
We ordered a large spring rolls and fried wontons to share. The fried spring rolls were okay nothing special, tasted like most places. The wontons were not the greatest. Felt like the meat inside the wontons were not fresh at all. Probably has been frozen for awhile. Would not recommend.
I also tried the beef broth and it was okay.
The Vietnam ice coffee was super strong.
The service was okay here. Your typical asian restaurant. Definitely better Vietnamese restaurants. Most likely would not come back here. Overall the food was mediocre and for the price, I rather go someone where that's more tasty that cost the same. -

Still trying to find a viet restaurant in the GTA that will top those of YEG (best viet food I've had thus far!!).
Pho Viet Xpress is located in a plaza on Bathurst (& Steeles). There's a good amount of tables here & quite spacious and clean too - not cramped like alot of other viet restaurants. Service was ok - they're efficient but forgot to blanch the bean sprouts like we asked (sall gucci tho, I'll live ;) hahaa). There was a couple tables of Vietnamese families when we came so, it's gotta be at least somewhat legit right?!
Been here a couple times and the food is pretty consistent.
Cha gio (chicken, shrimp, & veggie filled) - I didn't like the wrapper they used... it's different than every other place. It's not a spring roll wrapper nor is it the rice paper wrapper; it's kind of dense and not that crispy.
Pho tai - Really good, clean broth w/ well-rounded flavour. The amount of meat they gave each time we visited was a bit inconsistent - can be alot, can be a little.
Vermicelli w/ nem nuong - Yummy grilled pork meatballs. Good bun.
Hu tieu my tho - Good change of pace if you ever get bored of eating your usual order. It came with a shrimp cracker but, the shrimp in it was totally old... the texture and taste had totally changed (for the worse). The broth was very clear, not too heavily seasoned or rich. The clear noodles stay nice and springy.
Price is totally average - maybe even slightly cheaper than the places in Markham & Pho Metro (still one of my faves).
Overall, pretty good choice for viet if you're ever in the area! Food is good, service is good, and prices are helllla good.
